TPLO WITH 12 MONTH GUARANTEE
The Slocum TPLO procedure is technically complex and comes with a steep learning curve, but with experience and appropriate planning, it is inherently reproducible. I use high-quality locking implants and bring to your clinic expertise attained from performing several thousand TPLO procedures spanning 23 years in referral practice. The consistently excellent outcomes give me such confidence in the procedure I offer the following 12-month guarantee: in the rare event of a complication following a standard unilateral tibial plateau levelling osteotomy that necessitates surgical management, I will provide my professional time for free **.
Terms and Conditions
BoneVet Orthopaedics' 12-month guarantee is subject to the conditions stipulated below.
- A BoneVet TPLO information sheet must have been signed by the pet owner before surgery.
- A BoneVet TPLO aftercare sheet must have been given to the pet owner when the patient was discharged from the clinic following surgery.
- BoneVet Orthopaedics should be notified as soon as reasonably possible of any significant negative event (e.g. trauma), whenever the patient unexpectedly deteriorates, and always within 72 hours of the event/deterioration occurring.
- The practice premises where TPLO surgery was performed must be located within 50 kilometres of the Brisbane registered office of BoneVet Orthopaedics.
For the offer to be valid all stipulations must be met without exception.
Complications that result from a failure (intentional or accidental) to adhere to post-operative instruction as detailed in the TPLO aftercare sheet are excluded from this offer.
Bilateral (performed on the same day) TPLO procedures, TPLO procedures performed in conjunction with tibial tuberosity transposition, TPLO combined with cranial closing wedge osteotomy (for extraordinarily-high tibial plateau angles) and other non-standard TPLO procedures are excluded from this offer.
Post-surgical meniscal injury (PSMI) is not a complication of TPLO; it is a complication related to the cruciate-deficient stifle. TPLO substantially reduces the risk of subsequent meniscal injury and does this more effectively than other techniques but cannot eliminate the risk. However, as the risk is very low in a well-performed TPLO, I have, as a gesture of goodwill, elected to provide bespoke cover for the surgical management of PSMI occurring within 12 months of surgery, charging only a nominal fee ***.
In the event I am notified of a complication, management options will be discussed with all relevant parties; recommendations will prioritise patient welfare. The decision to manage a complication surgically and the timing of such management will be at the discretion of BoneVet Orthopaedics.
BoneVet Orthopaedics extends this offer as a goodwill gesture and will make all reasonable efforts to honour it. This offer relates solely to the provision of professional time by BoneVet Orthopaedics to surgically manage a complication that occurs as a direct consequence of a standard unilateral TPLO surgery within 12 months of said surgery. BoneVet Orthopaedics will not be liable for any charges incurred should the patient be treated by a third party, whether by choice, or necessity, should BoneVet Orthopaedics be unable to attend to the patient in a satisfactory timeframe.
** Subject to availability. BoneVet Orthopaedics will provide professional time free of charge. Associated costs, including, but not limited to implants and disposables, will be chargeable.
*** Subject to availability. BoneVet Orthopaedics will surgically manage a post-surgical meniscal injury occurring within 12 months of the original standard unilateral TPLO surgery for the nominal fee of $350 + GST.
