Tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (Slocum TPLO): the Gold standard for managing cruciate ligament injury in dogs, and favoured over tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) and triple tibial osteotomy (TTO)
Isometric bone tunnel UHMWP lateral suture
Complex fracture repair: internal fixation: several locking plate technologies, linear, circular & hybrid ESF
Patellar luxation, medial and lateral: realignment procedures e.g. tibial tuberosity transpostion, distal femoral osteotomy, and trochleoplasty when inidicated.
Arthroscopic investigation & surgery (keyhole) for joint disease
Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System (OATS) for management of stifle OCD
Ilizarov ring fixators (Circular ESF); angular limb deformities, limb lengthening
Arthrodesis e.g. carpal, tarsal, shoulder, elbow
Total hip replacement (THR) for dogs (all sizes) and cats
Arthroscopic Surgery
Arthroscopic "Keyhole" surgery is less invasive, with reduced postoperative morbidity and faster recovery times.
High magnification improves the visualisation of pathology and facilitates effective treatment.
Key indications for arthroscopic management include the treatment of elbow dysplasia (e.g. coronoid disease), shoulder OCD and investigation of stifle pathology
We have a range of arthroscopes to suit pets of all sizes.
Spinal Surgery
Treatment of a wide range of spinal pathologies including intervertebral disc disease in the neck and back i.e. a ruptured or "slipped" disc, vertebral fractures and instability and developmental diseases.
Hemilaminectomy, pediculectomy, corpectomy, ventral slot, dorsal laminectomy and stabilisation procedures for the management of Hansen types 1 and 2 intervertebral disc disease
Vertebral fracture, luxation and subluxation
Cervical spondylopathy e.g. wobbler syndrome
Atlanto-axial instability
Degenerative lumbosacral disease
Imaging: in-clinic myelography, interpretation of MRI
Radiographic Reporting
Informal radiographic reporting is offered as a complimentary service: no obligation, no charge, even if there is no possibility of my involvement in the surgical management of a case. I am always happy to review patient files and advise on management options, regardless of circumstance.
